Maching Learning
Welcome
Welcome to Introduction to Machine Learning using R!
This online book is designed to guide you step by step as you build both the technical skills and the critical thinking needed to work with machine learning models. Along the way, you’ll learn how to prepare data, build and evaluate models in R, compare different modeling approaches, and use those models to make predictions and classifications.
Whether you’re brand new to machine learning or you’ve had some experience with modeling before, this book is meant to meet you where you are and help you grow. By the end, you’ll not only understand how different machine learning methods work but also feel confident choosing, evaluating, and applying them in real-world situations.
Note
This textbook was written by Dr. Jon McCurdy for Mount St. Mary’s University’s Machine Learning Models course. Special Thanks to student Luke Papayoanou for his input along with developing the MSMU package in R to go along with this book.
